Reviewing God's Blessing

While ministering as an outreach pastor, God burdened Pastor Guy Altizer to start a church in Simpsonville, South Carolina. After much prayer and hard work, 156 people met together for the very first time on February 10, 1985.

The charter service of Calvary Baptist Church was held two years later on July 26, 1987. Some 50 members who were at that service continue to attend and serve the Lord at Calvary today.

God's Goodness

The church located and purchased the original 13 acres of our present campus in 1988. The auditorium and classroom wing were constructed; and by God's grace, all outstanding debt was paid in full by the end of 1998.

God provided two additional facilities in the following years: one which houses the administrative offices and the other which we know as the Chapel - where the youth group, Spanish church, and other groups meet for worship, instruction, and fellowship.

Looking Ahead

God has shown Himself mighty in the history of Calvary Baptist Church, and we continue to trust in His goodness for the future.

On the second Sunday of February we celebrate Heritage Sunday – Calvary's anniversary.

Heritage Sunday gives us an opportunity to look back at God's blessings – and forward to the exciting days of growth and ministry that are still ahead.

We "labor together with God" (1 Corinthians 3:9) to be a Christ-exalting, people-reaching, disciple-making, servant-equipping local church ministry.
