Community Groups
WHAT ARE COMMUNITY GROUPS?
Building Relationships
Community Groups are small groups that meet on Wednesday evenings to build relationships with God and others through prayer, sharing, and discussion of a Bible passage. The groups meet in various homes in Greenville County, and you can see the general locations on the map to the left.
If you have been visiting Calvary and want to plug in deeper, Community Groups are a great way to do that! Or perhaps you’ve been a member for years but want to go deeper in relationships – join a group!
To join a Community Group, please contact the church office. We will then recommend some groups in your area.
WHY COMMUNITY GROUPS?
Life Together
Because we are committed to praying together, sharing life together, discussing and applying the Word together, and exhorting and edifying each other in love.
Community Groups give the people of the church the opportunity to obey Christ’s command to love one another – John 15:17; 1 John 3:23. This love for one another compels us to share our material and spiritual lives with each other – Romans 12:13; 1 Corinthians 12:25; Philemon 1:2; Galatians 2:9.
Community Groups are not a replacement for the preaching and teaching of God’s Word. Rather, they exist to give a forum for believers to discuss and apply the Word together.
Believers in the church need each other. No believer can grow spiritually with a “go-it-alone” approach. Spiritual growth takes place within the context of believers exhorting and edifying one another. We strive for this to take place each time a Community Group meets.
